As Miss Alabama 2008, I have had the privilege of working closely with The Children's Hospital of Birmingham and Children's Miracle Network. It is wonderful to have the opportunity to serve the children of Alabama. The Miss America organization has adopted Children's Miracle Network as its national platform. I am pleased to support an organization with the same goal of improving the lives of thousands of children nationwide.
I feel very grateful for the outpouring of support from the community at last April's benefit concert, and I am pleased to be hosting and performing another concert benefiting CMN. I extend an invitation to all to Music For A Cure: A Benefit Concert for Children's Miracle Network. The event will be held at 6:30 P.M. on December 7, 2008 at Samford University's Brock Recital Hall. The concert is free and open to the public with a reception to follow, hosted by O'Carr's. We are honored to have Gail Thomas as our guest speaker. Her son, Logan Thomas, lost his battle with bone cancer this past January. Logan's "RAID Out Cancer" Fund at Children's Hospital benefits research for pediatric cancer, and Logan's artwork hangs at Children's Hospital in Clinic 8. Donations for CMN are gratefully accepted at the event. If you are unable to attend but would like to make a tax deductible donation, please make checks payable to Children's Miracle Network and mail to 2348 Woodland Circle, Birmingham, AL 35242. I look forward to seeing you soon!
